there is loads to talk about! Lets start with the bad news:
Pinkrose radio is doing well. For a short time it was running on pinkrose.dhis.org's main boxen. Sadly the main
boxen was so overwhelmed with all of its own work that it was turning the music to sushi (groan). The original music
server's HD had croaked. Finally I took some of the older Mac SCSI and IDE/ATAPI drives and put them in. I reinstalled
Slackware 10.1 on that boxen and the radio station is running good again.
I have lost quite a bit of mass from last year! I lost over 40 U.S pounds. (18.14 Kilograms)! I have dropped from a
24w to a 20W (or close to it.) in dress sizes.
I will begin working on the comic strips again. I want to explore some other themes though. Not just From The
Harpy's Desk I am considering branching out to topics of Gaia and other stories of environmental interests. I also
am considering ideas to be offshoots of my From The Harpy's Desk strip.
its not easy drawing, and it certainly takes lots of time to do it well. When I moved here, I had plans to set up a
work space for the artwork. That was until I had Ed move in. Originally a tempoary move, to my dismay, my nsection 8, housing
choice Voucher didn't come in time. and I need his help to pay the rent of $700 every month. I am again going to the
Wellness and Recovery program clases and I will be taking Creative expressions during the winter and spring quad. That
will give me a large table and two hours every week to work on the drawing. Then I will bring them home, put them on
the Mac and clean them up. The finished products will be released here.
Lastly, for those of us who are interested in the December 21, 2012 scenario, The History Channel will be showing a
two hour sequal to the Lost Book of Nostrodamus. This program will continue with the discussion and meaning of the
2012 year. It will also use what Scientific research has also found out. Quite enlightening. and it will be on January
4th at 9PM. It is definatly worth watching!
Pinkrose Radio AM 1610 is now on the air and working well. This part 15 station covers the immediate area
of 112 Main Street in Downtown Winsted. The station broadcasts a mix of music from the 40s to the 90s! Plus I do a
live radio show between 8PM to 11PM. The radio station is on the air full time 24 hours a day and My Imac G3
running Linux and Mp3blaster provide the music. In addition I also play records and tapes during my live program or
when I need to service the Imac G3. For the interested, the transmitter is a SSTRAN AMT3000 unit. with the stock
antenna and earth lead.
While it is possible to extend the range and still remain in compliance with Part 15 rules... My new landlord
isn't going to be enthused to have a honking huge base loaded antenna sitting on his flat roof. Perhaps in the
future, If enough people pressure the FCC, they will rewrite the part 15 rules allowing a 1 or perhaps a 10 watt am
transmitter. I have written to my senators and congressman and asked for their support. I have not had much luck
actually talking with the FCC itself however. Perhaps if I had a few million and could manage to bribe someone };)
Latest news on Glenn Beck, on CNN on Thursday shows that the price of Sweet Crude has shot to an alarming $124 (approx) for a barrel of oil! You know what is coming next? The price jumps for food and Gasoline/Diesel.
What I find alarming isn't the price of fuel as is the way we have wasted it! Seems we never learned our lessen in 1973 when we had the Oil Embargo. that was an artifical oil shortage. Now we are heading for the real thing! Oil is not an Unlimited source! There is only so many trillions of barrels in the world.
Yet, we still drive these big SUVs which consume it like a cheap beer!
Something has to change! It is also alarming how people insist on guzzling
electricity! Electric stoves? Very wasteful! Electric Heat? Ungodly wasteful!
Why we would use such a wasteful means to produce heat shocks me
(no pun intended).
No, the attitudes that have gotten us into this mess must end and soon! Americans cannot continue to act that there is a magic oil monster that pees crude so they can guzzle it up in a wasteful manner! Have you ever considered what we make with oil, besides Gasoline/propane/diesel? Heres a short list:
Now lets consider the Gaian consequence of Oil and ,yes, Coal as we seem to have some strange ideas what is better for the environment. Truth is that Neither! as both create Carbon Dioxide, Sulfur Dioxides and Carbon Monoxide and I will explain the impacts of the different parts on Gaia.
There is this idea that coal plans are exploring called Carbon
Sequestration. In this process you drill a hole into the rock and pump
your Carbon Dioxide/Carbon Monoxide underground at high pressure. The
problem with this is that someday someone may accidently hit those
high pressure cavities and BAROOM! blowing themselves and the whole
system! There has to be a better way! One coal plan is expirementing
with Algae to take the coal plant exhaust. (after its cooled down a
bit) and using photosythesis to convert it to Oxygen and Water vapor.
That seems to me to be a better solution. The Algae can be used as a
food source as well. That could be important as every idiot converts
our corn fields into Ethanol producing crops! I need to eat more than
a SUV does! However, cellulasic Ethanol may be a good choice if it can
be perfected as we only eat the corn. We don't eat the stems or
leaves. In addition Cellulasic Ethanol can be made with your grass
clippings! Sounds like a good solution for those who try to find a
place to drop their lawn clippings.
Now there is another source of oil that is easily aquired.
Human FAT! Thats right! all of us Obese people can fuel our cars with
our guts! Just drill in and suck it out! It is refined very similar to
how cooking fats are converted to Bio-Fuels such as Bio-Diesel and
Bio-Kerosene (Bio-Jet-Fuel). The problem here is that most people don't
have the money for Liposuction! Nor do most people consider it
ethical. Ok, I accept that! However, is it Ethical to drive a big SUV
while you feed your big gut instead of using the energy you are
building up in your fat warehouse? You tell me!
Lastly let me take the time to suggest some practical steps how one con conserve!:
I hope this short list gives you some ideas how you can
start saving Gaia and yourself some money.

The following article I created for my caseworker in understand what I want in a ideal home. I wrote this in the 3rd person. After I wrote it I realized that perhaps you, my readers, may be interested in reading it too! I hope to hear from you about this piece and other pieces I had written in the past. click on the Contact Me to voice your comments and opinions.
What do I want in a home Introduction If you were to ask a group of people what they want in their
homes. You would hear a common answer, Bigger. However, there
is a new answer on the horizon that is pushing home builders to
redesign their home designs for a new consumer market, Green and
earth Friendly. This document isn’t for a group of people.
Its purpose is to answer questions on what one person is looking for
in home, Michele Marie Dalène. Some background about Michele Marie Dalène is required to
understand her philosophy. She wasn’t always concerned about
green. At first she was a technology adopter. If it plugged into a
mains socket. she would buy it. That changed quickly when she began
to realize that was destructive to her environment. The change
happened over a period of years.
It all began in 1999. Her landlord had his mortgage on her apartment
foreclosed on as his fathers death from cancer pushed the family into
severe debt. Michele Marie was one of the few tenants of 18 Carey
Hill Alley that was paying her rent on time. Of the 6 apartments.
Only three were paying their rents. With a foreclosure action in
process she fought to keep her home. At this time there was the y2k
scare going on. Gary North and others were prophetizing the
destruction of the modern world due to the computer date bug. While
studying and preparing to the best of her ability to survive a total
failure of the modern human infrastructure. Michele Marie found
another and more horrifying concern, Global warming. With no
resources to prepare for y2k, she decided she had to follow up on
human destruction of the planet. To her great dismay she discovered
that she was a part of the problem. Her outrageous consumerism was
pushing the Earth to its destruction! As is her habit she threw more
and more time into research on how she could switch from being part
of the problem to being a part of the solution. As she remembered her
childhood in East Hartland Connecticut (1968-1976) to her families
move to New Hartford Connecticut (1976-1983) to Winsted Connecticut
(1983-1993). She remembered how much she had loved the forests and
the meadows that were not contaminated by human encroachment. She
wanted to return to her natural roots. Being Legally blind, she
depended on others to take her to the stores and malls to obtain the
daily things she needed everyday. She began thinking that it was time
for her grab the transportation beast by the horns and move herself
to the stores. Unable to ride a two wheel bike as her balance was
poor. She used the only transportation system that was green and
earth friendly, her own feet. She began to wonder if there was any
other way she could save her Earth. In 2002 she began to wonder about
Christianity and its complications. It wasn’t her. She read up
on the different pagan faith systems from Druidism, Wicca and Celtic
faiths. and blended their earth faith into her own. She called it
Dalèneism. In 2007 she fell in love with Gaianism and the
worship of the Greek Earth Goddess Gaia. In her faith Jehwah (or The
Lord) still plays a part as does his begotten Son Jesus. Yet she does
not see the human race as the ‘super Race’ but rather a
part of the global community of plants and animals that Gaia has
created and provided a perfect home for.
Unfortunately, Michele Marie realized, Man was being selfish and
destroying Gaia for his own nefarious goals. Michele Marie
couldn’t stop everyone else but she could stop herself from
doing so.
One of the things that even before she was a reborn again Gaian was
constant desire to live a simple life. For her that starts with her
home. This is the topic of this paper. Home is where the heart is. Having lived in several environments. Michele Marie was
finding it harder and harder to bear living in a ‘modern’
city like setting. It was causing her to despair as it was the
farthest from what she considered her ideal home. In 2000 she and a
friend lived in a travel trailer in Goshen Connecticut. Here she
found her Nirvana. Sadly it was short lived as her friend wasn’t
really into living such a rustic lifestyle. After a fight, she went
back to her parents for about one year. Her section 8 voucher came in
for an apartment in Winsted Connecticut. It had the amenities she
wanted. she however, was still dreaming to return to Goshen. She and
her friend decided, at her advice, to acquire a Motorhome. With
excitement she tendered her notice to leave. Not aware that the
motorhome was far from being ready to go. With the landlord wanting
her out and no place to go. Her friend’s ex-girlfriend Cindy put
up with her in her back yard for a week in a cabin tent. There
Michele Marie thrived despite the hostile cold temperatures of late
October. Still East Hartford wasn’t what she called home and she
asked her friend to bring her to Torrington to the fish shelter.
There she stayed for three months.
Her voucher extensions were just about up. if she didn’t find a
new apartment soon she would have to reapply for a voucher. With no
tent or camping gear of her own she agreed to take an apartment in
Torrington Connecticut where she now resides. The original agreement
was that she was going to be here for a year and move on. Unfortunate
for Michele Marie, Torrington Housing held on to her and her voucher
with a vise grip. If she wanted to leave Torrington, she would have
to give up her voucher.
In March of 2008 she received a letter from Social Security. Her
father had passed on. and she was eligible for some money. At the
time of this document she is still waiting to see how much back money
she was to be awarded. Her current payments would be about $1064.
Quite a jump from her current $653 per month.
Being one to plan for various scenarios she had come up with several
plans. The main goal was the same; Live a simple life in harmony with
Gaia. She loved it in Goshen and its simple beauty. That became the
driving force behind her planning of her earth friendly home. The Home and its parts Michele Marie’s home would be built of materials that are
not to hurt the environment. Being on disability she considered what
materials would be durable and affordable. Being she loved trees, she
dismissed wood home framing as it results in too many trees dying.
Watching many history shows of home construction she considered
Mud-daub construction. A method that used Manure, straw and mud built
on a framework of stiff saplings of bamboo. It would have been labor
intensive and quite dirty to build. In her “From the
Harpy’s Desk” comic strip you can see this type of home
being built by her characters with a slight modification of using it
in adobe style blocks. Unfortunately due to the scarcity of manure
and straw. Michele Marie considered using Concrete cinder blocks.
Cinder block walls are durable and tough. For her roof she has
considered using sheet metal with Rebar and a concrete top coat. The
Rebar will provide the structural strength that concrete lacks.
Similar materials would be used to build the concrete floor. Planning
for the worst possible conditions she plans to use Rebar in the walls
and floor
to create Reinforced Masonary or RM. this would provide a strong
structure to stand up to earthquakes. Taking the California building
codes and porting them to Connecticut.
The walls would actually be a sandwich of materials: Cinder block
outside walls, a “green’ inner insulation material applied
to the concrete and lastly a 2x4 Aluminum stud structure where the
gas and electrical cables would run. Covered with A plaster wall of
lath and plaster. Inside the cinder blocks would be Rebar tied
together to prevent the blocks from shifting in an earthquake. The
finish on the outside would be a concrete mix that simulates mud daub
exterior walls.
Michele Marie understood clearly that if one installs flush toilets
that the amount of water used per flush is over 3 gallons, on average. Thats 3
gallons that could be used for drinking. Her choice for waste
management is a composting toilet that uses no water at all. Several
of these Sun mar composting toilet models use a low voltage power source to
operate a small heater and fan unit. The electrical needs for the
home would be met using several photovoltaic solar panels on the
roof. These would charge a bank of batteries maintained in a separate
structure for fire reasons. Her lighting, heating, refrigeration and
cooking fuel would be Propane or Natural gas. The only utility
provided at this home. Her water would come from a well. pumped by a
hand pump. Considering Michele Marie’s obesity this would give
her the needed exersize to lose the excess mass she has
gained.
Her refrigerator will be a Crystal Cold propane model as it is much
more efficient that even a small electric refrigerator. It also uses
Ammonia instead of HCFCs or CFCs this is a green safe refrigerant.
Lighting would be provided by both 12 volt and gas lighting fixtures.
Her heating system would be a space heating system which is not
electricity dependent. As a backup she will be installing a wood
stove for both heat and cooking.
These designs will cut her environmental impact by over 90%. To
continue her savings she will be growing her own vegetables and
fruits.
In her home she plans to have the following areas: Living room,
bedroom, kitchen and a small bathroom with a tub and the composting
toilet. A portion of the kitchen will contain a pantry of both
freshly canned fruits and vegetables and store bought
provisions.
Garbage will be separated. Non organics ie: plastics and metal will
be recycled as per Connecticut laws, organic food wastes will be
composted and used to feed the garden itself. the human composted
waste will be used to fertilize the local trees around the
home.

Second news of the day is that Pinkrose
Communications. (what? You didn't think we had a name
other than Planet Maca's? Is in the process of setting
up a low power (100mw) FCC Part 15 radio station. Not
that it will travel far. However, I am also
considering streaming it on the internet. More on that as
the information becomes available on frequencies and
if I am going to go through the hassle to set up the
streaming access.
Our uplink for the nntp newsgroups keeps crashing
the suck applet that feeds C-news. (big bummer).
Because it doesn't seem the local.* newsgroups are
getting access, I may remove them sometime soon. Of
course since there is no real traffic in them.... it
doesn't result in a major space crunch either.
My mass is apparently stable. I haven't gained or lost mass at this time. Still working
on my novels as well as researching more on Gaia and Gaiaism.
The following is from my thread on Datehookup.com in the religion
forum. This was the latest post as of today. The thread itself was
called "Is there any Gaians here?"
I had a conference prayer with Gaia, Jesus and Jehwah (The Lord).
Normally I don't do that as its scary and can get confusing to involve
pagan goddesses and gods into prayer. I had to act on my
concerns. I am providing a summary of the 2 hour prayer.
Also a quick note about what happened with the last poster, the one I
booted out. I don't mind polite discussions. I welcome rational
religious debates. Please remember that while I still am a christian,
I am more Pagan now than I have ever been. My christian faith has been
put on hiatus as Jesus agrees that I do deserve heaven. Gaia needs me
now more than ever before. Too many animals and plants are dying!
Loads of toxins are dumped into the water, air and ground. Forests are
being clear cut at astonishing rates! I am only one person but I am a
start.
Yes, I do want to become a Dryad of a maple tree and that is really
something that I want to become. I am sensitive about that and I know
that sounds nuts to many but to me... it would be heaven on earth!
I thought I would update my picture as the last one was a bit old
(over a year old). I thought it was time to update it to a much newer
shot of how I dress. Here you can see how I normally dress Even in
the dead of winter!
My medical doctor is working hard to find out what we can do to fix
my dysfuctional digestive system, in reguards to my Dangerously
low HDL (good Cholesteral) and my super low LDL (bad
cholesterol).
He also is concerned about my Triglycerides (I don't really know
what that is, has something to do with my HDL,LDL levels, my lipids
and my liver. I don't drink alchohol so I don't have that to blame. He
put me on something called GenFibrasil. I personally don't know if
that really will help. He suspects it may be Stein Leventhal Syndrome,
a syndrome that affects women. Need I say that I am concerned for my
health but he is a young and skilled medical professional who is
working hard to get me back into shape. I did lose five pounds of
mass. Got a hell of a long way to go before I get to my dream weight
of *blush* 200 U.S pounds. I ask all of you to pray for me to
whatever god you pray to that I will return to a healthy mass and my
levels are restored.
Woo Boy! thats like asking an Athiest if he is an agnostic! But I
will try to explain my religious faith system. For those of you that
are converatives, you can skip this paragraph if it isn't of interest
to you.
I am a Devoted Roman Catholic who also is greatly concerned for out
planetary home! I also am concerned about how I can help save our home
for our children and grandchildren. Gaians can be Christians or
Neo-Pagan. I am not a Neo-Pagan, however, I am still deeply devoted to
Mother Gaia. If she dies.... We all die! Therefore we must protect our
Earthly home.
There are many web sites on Ecology and Environmentalism and I
don't want to go wild quoting sites. You can find them on google or
Yahoo. If every person makes an effort to ween themselves off of
fossile fuels and use Solar power for electricity and heat, Wind for
Electricity and hydroelectric plants we can cut the ammount of Carbon
Dioxide emissions by quite a bit.
Humans, including me, in the United States have a mass problem.
Being I don't drive and part of it is a digestive disorder, you may
think I am not active. I am very active as I walk everywhere! Oh btw.

Thank God! my medical doctor is working with me to avoid
that from happening! A friend of mine Does look like
this and she is in danger of serious health issues. Pray for my health
and recovery!
The tooth quietly left the realm of teeth. No pain, no fuss just
fell out. Still will call dentist to let him have his heads up he
wanted. Not sure what I will choose to do to replace it.
Sometimes the other teeth will move to fill in the space. If that
happened, and it was an organized matter. Up to The Lord to
decide That would fix my overbite, quite nicely.
Implants looked messy and
expensive. Bridges may be feasable but I am unsure if I can afford
that. Partials... Umm Not really an option for ONE tooth.

Like I said, The Lord has blessed me by doing the dental work of
removal of the rotten It was Litterly a rotten dead tooth.
Perhaps he will bless me by arranging for the others in my mouth to
fill the gap. That would result in my overbite being a thing of the

Lastly: Merry Christmas! Hopefully I will update this blog in
January. Its been awhile since I drew a few new strips. Today I began
catching up on the strips again. Several new things changes to talk
about.
Michele Marie finally built "phase II". that is Mary Helen's and
her master bedroom suite. It has A gasolier (its a gas fired
Chandelier for those who didn't know there was a difference. Electric
Chandilers are known as Electroliers as well.), Gas heat and a home
office for Michele Marie to work on bus company paperwork as well as
her Comic Strips. (obviously!)
The addition is intergrated into the original hovel. which changed
its designation with the second room to a cottage. Jim sleeps in the
front room which is also the living area and kitchen. The old section
also has a Gasolier but the cooking is still the fireplace hearth,
wood fired.
Mary Helen was afraid that Mayor Okra was going to have a fit as
she wanted to keep that as an historical section of Farmingdale.
However to her surprise as Michele Marie told her, Mayor Okra liked
how things were intergrated and even asked Michele Marie to renovate
her own home!
Farmingdale doesn't have Natural Gas, so Michele Marie had no
choice but to use her nemisis, PROPANE! for the gas fixtures. There is
a 100 Gallon propane tank on the side of the hovel. This gas is also
used for refrigeration in the kitchen.

There are several local.* groups for you to enjoy. Several of the

The whole gang has decided to settle in Farmingdale Avalonia on
Avalon. Unlike the U.S you don't buy land, you pay taxes to use any
land that is available. Poor Michele Marie! She got a major renovation
project as the land they got to use has an old hovel that is fallen
into ruins! Mayor Okra, a female Ogre, has told her she has to get it
fixed up before the first winter snows in two months! Egad! Can she
even rebuild it in time?
The town of Farmingdale (a farming community) has a rat problem.
The good rat eaters were the hawk harpies. The last set of Hawk
harpies on site were the Unreformed (uncivilized comes to mind, think
of flying slobs!). The town ran them out of town to their dismay the
rat and mice population exploded. Mayor Okra is risking her carreer by
having Mary Helen, Michele Marie, Kyria, Fluffy (thats the cat) and
Jim become residents. Their task; Rodent Exterminators!
It should be interesting to see how Michele Marie rebuilds and
expands the hovel and how she will do it in two months.
The actual rebuilding process will be documented in a document online as
the average reader doesn't want to get into contstruction details. My
dad was a construction worker and I learned of his trade, The Old John
Fogerty song applies. "I am a living legacy to the leader of the
band.". In short... the process is time consuming as the housing is
built with cow manure, earth, straw then sun baked with a finising coat of
natural concrete... I will get on that document soon, In one episode
of Dirty Jobs Mike Rowe helped on a similar construction
project in Washington State. There is a good example of just how Dirty
Michele Marie and the crew are going to get!
This movie had all of the overused themes of most of the genere,
What I would like to see is a movie where the good decent harpies are a
help to humanity. where the lead character is a woman who works
with the harpies to save humankind. Such examples of the harpies are
of course portrayed in my novels (I will post these shortly after I
finish Harpy Flight 1 and work on the novel based on
the From The Harpy's Desk comic strips). I will
let you know when they are online. Sadly this isn't one of these
films. Of course if you like this type of film that was shown
you certainly would overlook some of the flaws with the harpies. These
flaws are glaring as I will point out below:
Loved the scenery and the methods of combat that is demonstrated as
it is clearly what you would expect for the 10th century. But seems
that the producer should have consulted an ornitholigist (bird
specialist) before designing the costumes of the harpies.
I give this two harpy eggs out of five!
Stan Lee's Harpies a Scifi Channel Movie will be on June 23, 2007
at 9PM Eastern. Some sites say it will be on at 11pm as well. From
what I have read it could be interesting.

After I watch this myself I will give an indepth review of the
film. Now if there was ONLY more harpy films. Hmm perhaps I should ask
SCIFI if they want to do a movie based on Harpy Flight 1 it
would be very interesting to many people I am sure. Sadly Scifi.com
hasn't asked me, they probally never will. (sigh)

As new scrips are created I will place them online. PLEASE NOTE

I have been working on the comic strip now for about two months. It
has greatly improved in quality since those early strips.
There is now over 44 of them now (41 of them are From The Harpy's
Desk and 3 of them were just early expirements.
Fron The Harpy's Desk is an ongoing serial following the
lifes of Mary Helen, Michele Marie (who is both the character and
story teller.) and a Red Shouldered hawk named Kyria who feels that
she needs to act as a mother figure to Michele Marie.
I had finally sat down to draw the big epic anamorphic wide screen
scene of Avalon. It is a composite work using the methods of Fountain
pen, Magic Marker, Pencil and computer. It looks actually pretty good
considering how it started out as an idea that was almost
unapprochable due to limitations in the size of bristol board that my
scanner can handle. However, with some hard thinking and creative
solutions I was able to create the huge two 8 x 11 inch panels at
600DPI with 50% reduction. The two images were placed side by side
using Graphics Converter 5.9 on my iMac G3/400 w/192MB of ram under

Amazingly my web site runs Linux... I use the best Operating System
for the task at hand.
Michele Marie is an excellent bus driver! they repainted the bus's
side to say "Harpy Bus Lines, Take the bus with us." Mary Helen
herself hasn't demonstrated if she can manage the bus driving. Even
in their practices she mostly watches as Michele Marie takes the wheel. Of
course you KNOW there is a catch of why they got a 30 year old bus for
free, don't you? Jim Sr. (Jim's father) is hoping to expand his
bus empire to Avalon. He can't do it himself as he is not a citizen of
Avalon, Mary Helen is, as will be Michele Marie on Sunday. He was
hoping to marry Jim to Michele Marie or Mary Helen, it could still
happen as Avalon supports Polyandry and Polygymany in addition to same
sex marriages. Btw.... Avalon does not have divorce like we do, you
want out... you walk out, no courts, no lawyers! Thats how Mary Helen
divorced Harpia, Harpia had suggested the divorce herself as she saw
that Mary Helen had become very tight with Michele Marie... Don't you
love soap opera style relationships? At least in this
case no one kills the other, neither hate the other. Harpia even
invited Mary Helen and Michele Marie to see her two new chicks.
Anyone who has read Harpy Flight 1 knows who Mary Helen
is/was and who Harpia is/was but how did they end up in Torrington?
That I haven't broached yet, until now.
Mary Helen wanted to get out of the Kington's queendom as she felt
she had reached her endurance limnit. It was decided that there would
be a 4 year election to review and replace bad leaders. she
decided not to re-run. Sylvia had won the election fairly as she
clearly had the knowledge and skills to finish the revitalization work
of Kingston's waste management, education and police systems. You will
hear more of the results later... Mary Helen and Harpia also had
others take over the care of their chicks. Mary Helen's step mother
Robin and former husband Steve raise Dawn and Eve. Harpia's first son,
before she came home, was raised by Agatha, a unreformed Black Crow Harpy.
in Harpy Flight 1 we are introduced to an Ogress named Okra
and a Maenad named Korreen. Both are quite the contrast to their
species. Okra is absolutily beautiful and Korreen is a recovered
alcholic who does not want to live as a drunk. Korreen is also a
lesbian, Okra however, appears to be Bisexual as she enjoys both the
pleasures of men and women. Okra feels close to Korreen. Korreen also
is very close to Mary Helen. Korreen and Mary Helen spent several
times in bed when they were at "The Institute", at the peril of
Claudia finding out and putting a fatal bite on Mary Helen. Maenads
are venomous and their neurotoxin will kill the sex they associate
with in minutes! Claudia, being Bisexual, can kill both men and women,
Korreen can Kill women and not men. However, Mary Helen Also is
venomous, she has the natural venom glands. Likewise I also had fangs
as a child, My parents had the dentists grind them down, as they
wanted me to be pretty in a human form. I, however did not have venom
glands. Nor does Michele Marie have either fangs or venom, her
strength is her intellect and logical problem solving ability
This old discolored tooth is still in my mouth after all of these
years, it was to fall out earlier this year. It has been doing well
in staying in place! In fact, somedays it is almost as good and tight
as its next door neighbors! I am not doing anything 'heroic' to keep
it in, I eat normally and use it normally. My feelings are that since
it has not been a problem, don't make one! as I explained to my
dentist in earlier blog entries. He wanted to do all kinds of nasty
stuff to my tooth. Root canals, Not in my mouth! thank you!
partials. why should I pay an oral surgeon to rip out a tooth when
I could do it myself, with my own fingers? and again why would I want
to? I see no reason for it.

It has been over a month since I wrote an update here. Let me start
by pointing out a few facts of where the comic strip is going.
Perhaps now would be an ideal time to write the novel based on what
I have in the comic strips... Alas! it is summer and I don't have very
good air conditioning or a nice outside place to work on the strips.
I have been drawing a comic strip lately that is being displayed
every day at The Community Soup Kitchen in Torrington, Connecticut
USA. You can actually read it there and I will also arrange for the
Older ones to be placed online
for those of you that are unable to get
to Torrington, Connecticut to read the strip.
The strip is based Loosely on Harpy Flight 1 with a few
changes.
I felt it was time to finally return the harpies to their beautiful
states, if only other writers/film makers would do the same. I also am interested in genetic research to change into a honest to
god real red tailed hawk harpy. From what I have been reading, it will
still be awhile before you or I will have that option. Perhaps when I die
and I am reborn, The lord will reward me with my dream. Tne new graphic above I drew for an art class. it was actually my
homework :) I thought it would look pretty cool on my blog page. Thus
I scanned it in, saved it at 300dpi reduced the size to make it
smaller for dialup Internet users to load without having to wait for
their dinner to cook ;) I originally was hoping to have it centered
here but I had no idea on how to do that, I will find out, eventually.
Sorry her tail is purplish and her side view she looks like an
Afro-American. part of it is my cheap markers were not exactly the
same colors before they dried. (water based.) the muffed up facial
color was because the marker ink bled into the fountain pen ink I used
to do the outlines sigh. I won a nice inexpensive Compaq black USB multimedia keyboard on
Ebay for $8.99. I am also bidding on a Microsoft Digital Media Pro
keyboard. The last time I looked I was still in the lead for a brand
new in the box unit for $.99 bid. shipping is about $8.00 so if I win
it too it will also cost me about $8.99!
Will let you know how they work out here at Planet Maca's. My Imac's Mac pro USB extended keyboard has suffered a loss. A
lost of the left control key. For normal Mac Os 9.2.2 stuff that isn't
an issue but for Linux.... UGH! Ah Huston--We have a problem
Thats because Linux, being desighed for Pcs, does not know anything
about the command key or as it is sometimes called the Apple key.
I am fortunate that it was the control key on the left side and not
the apple key or I would have been screwed beyond screwed! Now I have
to use my right control key to do control chars. Hard to get used to
using the other key for that after being used to only having
one control key and it being near the "A" key. Next month I now
have to put a keyboard on order in addition to the memory upgrate from
Other World Computing for
the Imac. Perhaps I will order both from them at the same time. Only
they don't quite have the keyboard style I am looking for. I have an
older Imac so... I want a
standard Apple clear keyboard with black keys. like the one I have.
Sigh time for EBAY again! speaking of keyboards. Microsoft has a
USB multimedia keyboard that is a killer it has more keys than
a full sized piano! it is one ugly son of a bitch!.
Alas! it has a color sceme that matches my iMac perfectly!
I Mentioned Linux before, I played with several linux distro's on
my Imac. I started with Mandriva 2005. Looked promising. Only... They
are out of business! No good! Tried Yellow Dog... Wouldn't boot
completely... No good! Ubuntu and Kunbutu likewise in graphics mode
. Lastly I tried Debian 3.1 (Sarge) for the Power Pc. Worked
wonderfully after I used a working XF86Config-4 file built from parts
of my working Slackintosh 10.2 xorg.conf file. I decided to scrap
Slackintosh 10.2 as it didn't have enough of the support for Power PC
architecture in place to be very useful, for internet work.
Contrast that to Debian which
even had Mozilla firefox and Thunderbird as .deb packages all set to
go! The package system is Awsome!. Debian has proven to be
quite usable even with my dud keyboard. Under X I can remap the dud
control key with the caps lock key. (how often do you type in all caps
anyway?). Still badly lacking is a decent flash player for Linux-PPC.
We could also greatly use an Acrobat reader for Linux-PPC as well from
Adobe. the 3rd party ones don't quite got it together.
However for normal everday tasks the system is quite usable. But
then even Slackintosh 10.2 is quite usable too! Slackintosh only needs
to work on getting more packages ported to Linux-PPC to be a good
candidate for Internet use.
I got my behind the hearing aids on Monday. upon putting them in at
the audiologists office I felt like I got hit by an auditory bus!
The problem for me was getting used to the gain in sound levels.
Like putting on glasses for the first time one feels uncomfortable
until they get used to them. I am still adjusting to the hearing aids
and as my doctor said it could take a few weeks to get fully
acclimated to them.
The models I chose were the Beltone S80 Behind the Hear (BTE)
hearing aids as they would be easier for me to adjust the controls and
maintain them. These are equipped with Telecoils (T-coils) which can
be used with inductive devices as well as omnidirectional microphones
for normal sound. The aids may have a DAI or Direct Audio
Input jack to allow for a hardwaired link via a hearing aid specific
connector plug. An interface that is rarely used anymore as most
people use the T-coil system with univeral inductance interface.
I expiremented with the T-coil by trying it with telephone handsets
(which it was designed for) including My Nokia 6255i in addition to my
LG AX425. The LG was a newer phone and had been improved specificially
for hearing aid use. The old Nokia 6255i did work with the aids in
T-coil and Microphone mode but the results were not that good. Using
the T-coil mode with a few wraps of speaker wire connected to the
audio output of my Hi-Fi proved to me that the induction coil system can
allow me to use my hearing aids with a stereo system. There is a
commercial product for this called Music Links (M-links)
which allows you to use a personal/home stereo with hearing aids with a
T-Coil. The sound is surprisingly good given the tiny speaker in a
hearing aid! The company makes the same things with a microphone for
telephone use (handsfree) called T-links. You can find out more

I had found out that
Quantegy (formerly known as Ampex) is
discontinuing all reel tape lines.
I find this to be a sad day as the production facilities are to be
shutdown by the end of April 2007. It bothers me to see another analog
medium die out. How long is it before our eyes and ears are replaced
with digital technology? Would I want High Def eyesight? Thats one of
those loaded questions that could really give some relief to some and
make others lives miserable. I fell in love with open reel tape long
ago and I still embrace the technoligy even now. It has a nice range
of sound even on my Philips open reel 4 track machine from 1962 that
only records/plays at 3 3/4 IPS. The Quantegy 632 tape is a standard
type 1 I.E.C bias tape using cassette terminology. Unlike a cassette
tape the amount of tape hiss is so low that you need to really push
the EQ on my equalizers to hear it it all! My machine is rated for 30
CPS to 18,000 CPS (Cycles per Second or Hertz for those who rathter
use that term.)
I love how my machine even with a 1200 foot reel can run for 1 hour
per side per track. so I can put 4 hours of music on a reel! This is
so cool for background music!
There is something YOU can help here with. if everyone writes email to

Quantegy's customer support
and they are willing to buy lots of tape than Quantegy may delay the
cancelation of the product lines. These product lines are not just
reel tapes either! they also want to cancel DAT/ADAT, SVHS and VHS
tapes as well. Problem I see with Quantegy is that they don't promote
their products enough! So I am asking all of you to help spread the
word! Their Quantegy 600 series tapes are the only tapes many of the
older Open reel machines can use without readjustments.
You do know that Cassette tape is next on the chopping block, well
DON'T you? If you haven't noticed that Cassettes are not even
sold most places anymore, at least not pre-recorded albums.
If you ask me, I find digital technoligy fucking
sucks for archivial storage of music, Especially if one uses
lossy compression such as MP3. Which right now may be a problem due to
Alcatel/lucent patents. Ogg Vorbis is much better for music storage or
perhaps flac if you are willing to sacrifice quality. But for
archivial storage that IS a problem. Analog to Digital sampling loses
quality as not everything gets easily convertered into digital 1s and
0s.
While I DO have a Cd player and use the Pentium box to play MP3s. I
still listen to vinyl and reels exclusivly. I just don't like the
digital sound at all.

I was watching this Movie on IFC. A movie that rankled me to my
deepest core. Being Bi-Sexual the thought that parents think one can
remove the homosexual tendency from their children is disgusting!
However one of the things that burns me up with this film is the
diametric world that is expected between the sexes. Men the wage
earners and women the homemakers. The movie was kind of campy as it
was too idealic for me to stomach. Several times I wanted to throw my
remote control Through my television. At first glance the movie
looked to me to be Right wing conservative propaganda. Do we REALLY
need to go there? We got enough on our plates as it is!
Latest sexual research shows that sexual tendencies are natural. Of
course when this movie came out in 1999, there was not enough clinical
evidence to support that view.
Now let me talk about how I see the sexual world. I am Bi-Sexual. I
have desires for both men and women. While I have had sex with men. I
have been intimate wtih women too, just not in the bedroom. As an
adult Roman Catholic, I don't believe in jumping in the sack just for
the pleasures. I outgrew that years ago. Because I am now 39, I really
want to settle down with the right person. Only the problem that I run
into every day is who is the right person? I like a good man
who has Autism. I have Aspbergers (which is in the same family). He is
a high functioning Autistic. I believe he and I could go real far as we
can relate to each other. I also like several women too! So who do I
choose? It is almost as frustrating to me as when I dream of becoming a red
tailed hawk harpy. I want it so bad but It is unattainable at this
time! ARGH! I dream of flying, and mating and bearing
chicks. My human side also dreams of mating and bearing a child. Only
I cannot bear a child as I am sterile! That means adoption which puts
me in a quandry. Most adoption agencies want families that have it all
together, fiancially and physically. Being I am multiply handicapped I
can kiss that option goodbye!
Mind you it has been in my mouth like this for almost 20 years! It
is loose and discolored, but the thought of paying out the nose
to have someone remove a tooth that I could easily do myself for free.
NAH! I will just wait until it pops out on its own. Its not sore or
causing me any pain. If it was, it would have been yanked out be me
years ago! Like Piers Anthony I am not in the mood to fuss with old
teeth. I just want to keep the choppers that are still working in good
shape. Too bad it took Seven Years to find a dentist in my area
that took my insurance plan!
They don't call me a harpy for nothing you know! I have as much
gumption as a pit bull! Especially if I am motivated to do something.
Even my Red Tail Hawk friends respect me for my tenacity.
Today I also got a Audiologist appointment too. My hearing is
horrible especially in my right ear. Had a hearing aid sometime ago
that was left behind in my old apartment in Willimantic when it was
condemmed. Probally will need another one of those too. Let me start by telling you that I am working on three works at the
same time! these are:

Maca's World
is being revised. it will continue to remain availiable here. The other
two works may be available as well as I rather release my work via the
GPL. The problems with both works is that they are being worked on under
Clarisworks 4.0 instead of Groff. Meaning that the finished work will
have to be released with PDF and RTF formattted files instead of
the Groff text processing files. I had worked hard to find a means
to convert Clarisworks or RTF to Groff with no luck. Nor have I found a
way to bring Maca's world Into Clarisworks 4.0 without a fight either. I will continue to post my books online as I feel it is benificial to
all to be able to read good works without having to pay outragious
prices to a publisher. I as a writer also want to give one a good book
to read. I like writing. Of course if you do like the works you
certainly can donate to the cause. I also welcome reader feedback as

text page! From now on I will use vim to manually enter the html

While I haven't posted recently I thought I would explain what is
going on here at The Harpy's Desk.
What is it with you and Harpies?
I love birds and I especially love harpies. For those who don't
know, a harpy is a Human/Bird crossbreed. In early Greek mythology a
harpy was considered a beautiful bird woman, with the sad task of
taking the damned to Hades. Later Greek Mythology turned the harpy
into an ugly flying beast. In Harpy Flight 1 My
harpies are clean creatures. At least those that willing to be clean.
Mary Helen is a clean red tailed hawk harpy. Harpia is a Black
Crow Harpy.

Ever sit in an dentist office waiting to be seen next? I had an
appointment for 10:30, the hygenist didn't get to me until 11:15.
Cleaning took about 15 minutes... Not a big deal really, The main
dentist looked at a loose tooth that had been loose for several years
from a childhood accident. He told me I had two choices about this
tooth.
